ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Performs manual and administrative support work shelving library materials, placing library materials in proper location, receiving and preparing discarded library materials and equipment for disposition, maintaining records and files, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the moderate supervision of the Customer Service Supervisor
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Discharges, sorts, shifts, shelves and weeds library materials; monitors condition of shelves.
- Prepares crates for books going to other branches.
- Assists with maintaining the cleanliness of the library.
- Attends meetings as a member of the department.
- Maintains displays of library materials.
- May perform duties of a Customer Service Representative.
- May respond to general inquires from customers.
- Assists with checking materials out to customers.
REQUIRES: High school diploma or GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have great customer service skills, excellent communication skills, be self motivated, able to work a flexible schedule including evening and weekend hours, and be dependable and responsible. Applicants must adhere to Library’s Dress Guidelines (“Business Casual”) and dress suitable for the task at hand, and must maintain good personal hygiene in compliance with Library Code of Conduct.
Position is assigned to Red Bank Branch Library but must be available to work at West Branch Library as needed.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: This work requires the regular exertion of up to 10 pounds of force and occasional exertion of up to 50 pounds of force; work regularly requires standing, walking, using hands to finger, handle or feel and reaching with hands and arms, frequently requires speaking or hearing, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling, pushing or pulling and lifting and occasionally requires sitting, climbing or balancing and repetitive motions; work requires close vision; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data, visual inspection involving small defects and/or small parts, operating machines and observing general surroundings and activities; work has no exposure to environmental conditions; work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. business office, light traffic).
