cover of House RulesI recently finished reading Jodi Picoult's House Rules.  Half-way through the book I was raving about it - recommending it to lots of people, including at meetings with other Library staff.  I found it hard to put down, and missed out on sleep because I was reading.

But my opinion of the book changed as I continued reading.  Ultimately, I was disappointed.  The writing was fine.  A lot of the ideas for the novel were fine.  The portrayal of a teen with high-functioning Asperger's seemed well done.  But I was very unhappy with some of the choices the author made for the characters, and found a fair amount of it unconvincing.
