Pardon me if you're a Patrick Dempsey fan, but this has to be one of the worst movies ever made! I can see why Rotten Tomatoes splatted it with a whopping 12% rating!
Every single joke is not only recycled from earlier comedies with similar themes, but the jokes aren't even funny this time around! The only moderately amusing scenes include Sydney Pollack, playing wealthy womanizer Dempsey's (Tom's) father. Pollack, who casually acts like he has just dropped in on the movie and is playing himself, can't seem to keep track of how many woman he has married and divorced!
The movie began with Dempsey as a college student. Through the wonders of CGI (computer generated imagery) the handsome 42-year-old Dempsey loses 20 years and became a fresh-faced 20-year-old. Only problem -- in the next scene he is supposed to be 30 but he looks like he is 42! I found that quite distracting.
Dempsey's co-star and love of his life, Michelle Monaghan (Hannah), is beautiful and obviously talented but confined by the script. Luckily she is starring as a single mother framed as a terrorist in the brand new thriller "Eagle Eye." So this can't kill her budding career.
Watch this at your own risk! Or better yet, wait for the new season of Grey's Anatomy.
