As public concern about pandemic H1N1 and the upcoming flu season continues to grow, the medical and nursing editors from both EBSCO Publishing and the Gale Group have responded by offering the latest scientifically verified flu-related information available for free.

Car Repair Information When You Need It

Auto maintenance manuals are right at the top of the list of the most checked out books in the EVPL collection. An overlooked resource, though, for do-it-yourselfers as well as professional technicians, is our subscription to the Auto Repair Reference Center. It's an electronic database available in the Research section of this website. With your library card, you can access information on more than 33,000 vehicles manufactured from 1945 to the present, and you can conveniently reach it from your home or office computer.

The site includes thousands of technical service bulletins, recall notices and maintenance schedules, wiring diagrams, step-by-step photos and drawings, and a handy labor time estimator. All this information is updated regularly by ASE certified technicians, so you know it can be trusted.

EBSCOhost 2.0

The EBSCOhost 2.0 interface launched last week. I got to see a preview of it at the PLA Conference in Minneapolis in March; it has some very nice features, and I have been looking forward to actually getting to use it. Sarah Houghton-Jan, The Librarian in Black, blogged about it Monday, EBSCO 2.0:

EBSCO 2.0, the new interface and feature-rich interface to EBSCO products, launched last week. Having seen some demos myself, I must admit to being very impressed. It's easier to use than the old interface, doesn't look so "1995," and has some of the features users have been asking for for a long time. The Krafty Librarian has a review and the EBSCO site has some useful FAQs if you're looking for a tour or some basic information.

Staff can sign up for training opportunity happening in the Tech Lab August 12th, with a representative from EBSCO conducting the training. Todd sent us email about that. Check the TechLab page on the staff intranet for more information.
