Do Your Old Photo's Need Preserving?

The next Savvy Senior Series program is "Preserving & Improving Old Photographs" presented by local author, Mark Soper. This program will be at Leisure Living Apartments on Thursday, September 29 at 10:00 AM.

Mark has requested that you bring old photos you would like to preserve with you to the program. You can also bring a USB drive, blank CD, or blank DVD if you wish.

Come join us to see how you can make sure your photos are appreciated for many years to come.

As always, this program is free and open to the public. Please come and join us!

Brain Jeopardy: What You Need to Know About Dementia

Local magician/illusionist Matt Grisham will perform and entertain you in our cool and comfortable surroundings. This event is our Finale program for the Savvy Seniors Series, however it is open to adults of any age. Come join us and bring a friend!

Open House - Gizmos & Gadgets

Please join us on Monday, July 18th when the Savvy Seniors Series and Best Buy present, "Gizmos & Gadgets". This event is an Open House for all ages and will be held in the Browning Events Room from 3:00-8:30 PM. No reservations are required and you may stop by anytime and peruse the booths - where the newest technological devices will be displayed. We will have a little of everything from digital cameras, smart phones, laptops to e-readers. The Geek Squad from Best Buy will be there to assist you and answer any questions you may have.

Wills, Healthcare Directives and Estate Planning

This week's Savvy Seniors Series program is on the topic of Wills, Healthcare Directives and Estate Planning. Lindsay Schmitt from Bamberger, Foreman, Oswald and Hahn. LLP will be presenting this event at 2:00 PM in Central Library's Browning Events Room B. Please come with all your questions and get them answered. Be an informed participant in your own future!

Candlemaking at the Library

Do you know the name of the restaurant that was located at 218 N.W. Fourth in the 1950's? Hint: The owner's last name was Topper. Well, if you'd like to take a stroll down "memory lane" and discover the answer to this question and many more, please join us for our next Savvy Senior's Series program. We will be meeting at Hickory Lake Apartments this Thursday, June 9 at 10:00 AM. This program is free, open to the public and does not require registration. Renny McBride, EVPL's local history librarian will present a quiz show format program about people/places in Evansville's history. She will also discuss the many library resources that are available to our community regarding local history. Come and share the memories with us.

Soundproof Barbershop Quartet

Come join us as Soundproof Barbershop Quartet performs on Saturday, April 16 at 2:00 PM in the Browning Events Room at Central Library. This is the Finale program for our spring “Savvy Seniors Series”, however it is free and open to all ages. Refreshments will be provided as you sit and listen to the harmonic sounds of this award winning group. You will not want to miss this one!

Maintain Your Brain

Are you committed to keeping your mind healthy and active? Do you sometimes wonder if your memory is as good as it should be? Or, would you just like to have some fun using your brain?

Next week, the EVPL’s Savvy Seniors Series will feature “Maintain Your Brain” presented by JoAnna Weiss from the Alzheimer’s Association. We will have some fun exercising our brains. And, information will be provided on how to keep your brain healthy, some of the age-related changes we all can expect, as well as when you may need to talk with your doctor.

The program will be held on Thursday March 31 at Central Library in the Large Group Room on second floor at 2:00 PM.

Planning for Social Security

Do you have questions and concerns regarding Social Security? Well, the library is offering the perfect opportunity to educate and answer questions you may have. Martina Dunkerson, Public Affairs Specialist for the Social Security Administration will present “Planning for Social Security” at Central Library on Thursday, March 24 at 2:00 PM.

This program is part of an ongoing “Savvy Senior Series” that is sponsored by the Evansville Public Library for people 55 years and older. ALL PROGRAMS ARE FREE AND OPEN TO THE PUBLIC.
