A promising year for the University of Evansville basketball team, the Purple Aces, ended early one fateful night in 1977.

When departing for Murphysboro, Tennessee On December 13, 1977, their chartered DC3 airplane crashed shortly after takeoff. The tragedy is still shocking and remembered to this day.
