300 Books by 3rd Grade | Register Today

EVPL is excited to announce our 300 Books by 3rd Grade program! For the past three years, EVPL has offered 1OOO Books Before Kindergarten, but we want to help support and encourage children to keep reading once they start school. 300 Books by 3rd Grade challenges children (and grown-ups!) to read 300 books by the beginning of their 3rd grade year.

What books count?

  • Read books that your child is comfortable reading. We hope many will be reading chapter books by the end of the program, but we want each child to enjoy their reading and they may not enjoy it if the content is beyond their reading level.
  • They can read the same book as many times as they want, but we encourage them to read new material sometimes! If suggestions are needed, an EVPL team member can help find the next book.
  • Any book will count! It does not need to be part of the EVPL collection.

How do you track your books?

  • Kids may use a paper log that can be picked up at any EVPL location.
  • 300 Books by 3rd Grade can also be tracked using the Beanstack app.

What prizes will you earn?

  • You will receive a button when you reach 50, 100, 150, 200, 250, and 300 books!
  • Once you have completed the program, your picture can be shared on social media if approved by your grown-up!

For EVPL’s younger library users, we offer a new adventure to help them prepare for school with our 1OOO Books Before Kindergarten initiative. Learn more today!
