A new March/April knitting class! In conjunction with CreativeBug, available to you free through the EVPL website with your county resident library card, the class will be Mosaic Knitting: How to Make Placemats.
Mosaic knitting is a slip-stitch pattern that allows you to work interesting and complex-looking geometric designs using only one color per row. While it can seem tricky to wrap your head around, once you get the basics, you can do any mosaic pattern under the sun. Edie Eckman teaches how to read mosaic-knitting charts, demonstrating four different stitch patterns on swatches. After you take this class, you’ll be ready to make placemats (PDF pattern included) or any other mosaic project you choose.
Jamye kindly made a sample for us of the Lattice chart included with the pattern – the left-hand side is the pattern done in stockinette stitch (see how it curls up more), and the right-hand side is done in garter stitch. I believe the class focus is on the garter stitch.
We will meet for this class on these dates and times:

To complete the project, you will need the following supplies:
If you want to learn the technique, but are not interested in making the project, you can use any 2 highly contrasted colors of yarn, (both colors the same weight of yarn) and the appropriate sized needles.
