Black History Month Art Contest!

Join EVPL in celebrating Black History Month during February. Throughout the month, EVPL locations will host programs including a movie, contest, and crafts. We are excited to announce a new month-long program to engage students across the county in celebrating Black History.

EVPL invites students from across the community to submit a piece of art that represents what Black History Month means to them. The art will be on display during the month of February at EVPL East with a special program on Friday, February 17 from 5:00 – 6:00 pm. During this program, students will be able to present their art piece to the community.  Guests can also enjoy music, snacks, and beverages while viewing the art pieces.

EVPL Manager, Linda Baker, hopes to engage the young people from across the city and involve them in the celebration of Black History Month. “I know of no better way to celebrate Black History Month than engaging our youth and the community with art and music. There are so many young people who come to EVPL East and other locations that are artistically talented, and we want to give them the space to show off their talent. We wanted to go beyond a passive experience and truly involve our community in a true celebration of Black History.”

Participants must drop-off their art with an official registration form attached to EVPL East by Friday, February 3 at 6:00 pm. EVPL East is located at 840 E. Chandler Ave. Hours for this location:

Monday thru Thursday: 9:00 am – 7:00 pm

Friday: 9:00 am – 6:00 pm

Saturday: 9:00 am – 5:00 pm
