Frequently Asked Questions

I forgot my login information for hoopla. Can you help?

Yes. Please contact us at 812.428.8200 ext. 1515 or via AskEVPL for assistance with resetting your login information for hoopla. We will verify your library account and then check hoopla’s system for your credentials; we can reset your email address and password for you.

How do I update my PIN in hoopla?

EVPL sets a PIN for all accounts. During our catalog upgrade in August 2023, all PINs were reset to the last 4 digits of your phone number on file; if you had no phone number, they were reset to your zip code on file. You can reset your PIN online. To add or update a PIN in hoopla on iOS, Android, or the hoopla website, follow the steps in this tutorial.

hoopla says my library card is expired, but my library says it is fine, what can I do?

If you have reached out to your local library, and the library card isn’t expired, another possibility is that your PIN is invalid. To get this corrected, you will need to contact your local library or visit their website, then learn how to update it on hoopla.

My spouse/partner/child and I share an email address. Can we use the same email address for hoopla accounts for more than one person?

No – All users must have their own, unique email address. If you need assistance creating an email address, please contact the EVPL Tech Helpdesk at EVPL Central.

Can I get help adding hoopla to my smart TV (ex: Roku, Apple, Samsung)?

Due to the many brands and models, we are unable to help with a smart TV; however, you can review the help guides on hoopla’s help site, or reach out to your TV manufacturer. You can also write to hoopla for help by emailing feedback@hoopladigital.com.

What is a BingePass and how do I use it?

A hoopla BingePass makes it easy to stream collections of premium content with just one click. Examples are Curiosity Stream and Hallmark Movies Now. It’s the ultimate boredom buster — giving you unlimited access to stream interactive, educational, and engaging collections of content online. Whether you want to peruse the latest issue of your favorite magazine, listen to a podcast, read an eBook with your child, or dive into a new documentary, there’s a BingePass for you.

Once you make your selection, you will have access to your BingePass borrow for seven days. Some BingePass borrows let you explore content directly within a partner’s platform, while others give you access to whole collections right on hoopla.

I have other questions about hoopla. What can I do?

There’s much more to learn and explore on hoopla’s help site.

I have a library card with another library in addition to EVPL and want to add their Libby collection as well. How do I do this?

Tap the menu button (three horizontal lines) in the center of the bottom of the Libby app. Tap Add a Library to search for another library or system. Note: EVPL is not part of the Indiana Digital Library that many smaller libraries and consortiums in Indiana are part of. EVPL does not provide support for the technology of other library systems.

Can I recommend a title for EVPL to purchase and add to the Libby collection?

Yes. Please follow the steps outlined here.

I have other questions about Libby. What can I do?

There’s much more to learn and explore on Libby’s help site.

What do I do if my Kanopy account is blocked?

Accessing our Kanopy collection requires two pieces:

  1. Creating a Kanopy account at www.evpl.org/kanopy.  You’ll need to provide an email address and create a password.
  2. Adding a Library membership. You’ll need a valid Library card number and PIN/password.

A Library card number (for your “Library membership”) can only be assigned to one Kanopy account at a time.

Account Blocks/Deactivations

A Kanopy account’s Library membership will be deactivated/blocked for various reasons, such as a period of inactivity where you haven’t used Kanopy in a while, your Library card number or PIN/password has changed, or your Library card has expired in our system.
