We can’t wait to open our temporary location inside Washington Square and welcome back our library users.
However, we are still waiting for an internet connection from our internet service provider. Without internet, we are unable to provide public computers, scan/copy/fax access, or even check out materials. Short-term solution attempts with hot spots were not successful.
Despite us trying to begin the process of switching internet to our new space several months in advance, we do not have a definite date of when internet will be established. We will keep you informed of any developments as we move forward.
We want to thank everyone for your continued patience! We are looking forward to connecting, discovering, and exploring with you soon.

Several updates are coming to EVPL McCollough!
EVPL McCollough is the oldest of our Regional Locations. In our Master Facilities Plan, it was concluded that an update to the building could redistribute interior space to further expand the Children’s Collection, add to public services with updated technology and infrastructure, and relocate the large meeting room to a more public zone of the building. These updates will allow EVPL McCollough, and the EVPL system, to support and serve all people, establish an equitable space, and strengthen our ability to cultivate curiosity by creating wonder.
EVPL McCollough will closed to the public. A temporary location with most library services is open inside Washington Square.
With construction estimated to take less than a year, it is anticipated that EVPL McCollough will reopen in mid-2024.
The anticipated total project cost is $4 million and is being funded by a bond issuance, which was approved by the Library Board and the Evansville City Council in 2022. The bond issuance keeps the library’s debt service tax rate neutral.
Most library services are available at our temporary location inside Washington Square, which is .3 miles away.
