The Evansville Vanderburgh Public Library will host numerous opportunities for our community to honor veterans over the coming weeks. Leading up to Veterans Day on November 11, community members can participate in some – or all – of the following activities.

  • Honor Flight of Southern Indiana and EVPL are providing coloring sheets and a letter template for all ages to send a note of thanks to veterans on the upcoming Honor Flight on October 21. All eight locations will have coloring sheets and a template that can be submitted in the Mail Call box before October 14. These coloring sheets and templates will also be available at October’s 2nd Saturday Stories at Evansville Regional Airport on Saturday, October 14, from 10:00 to 11:00 am.
  • EVPL will host an exhibit of images and headlines recognizing Evansville’s contribution during World War II from October 31 to November 20, 2023, in EVPL Central’s Lobby. During World War II, Evansville served as an industrial hub, and we invite the public to visit and learn more about Evansville’s role in supporting war efforts.
  • A member of the Honor Flight will join EVPL for a special reception on Thursday, November 9, at 3:00 pm. The public is invited to honor veterans by listening to a short presentation from the Honor Flight, viewing the exhibit, and enjoying light refreshments.

Veterans served and sacrificed for our country, and EVPL is proud to recognize them throughout October and November.  For more information about Veterans Day, please check out any of the following resources.
