Create your own graphic novel as part of EVPL’s Graphic Novel Design Contest!

Ralph Shayne’s graphic novel, Hour of Need, tells the story of his grandmother and other Danish Jews escaping during World War II. Graphic novels have become a popular way to tell stories, and now we want YOU to create your own!

Think about the themes of hope, family, unity, or strength, and tell your story through a graphic novel.

Winners will be included in unique opportunities at author Ralph Shayne’s SPEAK event on April 16, including introducing the author and attending a special reception.

Contest Guidelines

  • Any child or teen ages 10-17 may participate. Each participant may register only one graphic novel. The graphic novel must have been made by the child or teen entering the contest.
  • Graphic novels that have been purchased, marketed, or used in other competitions will be disqualified.
