The Evansville Vanderburgh Public Library is excited to announce our annual Summer Reading Celebration will begin on Thursday, June 1, and continue through Monday, July 31! This year’s theme, Our Summer: Begin Your Journey, celebrates your reading journey and how the library is here to support you along the way.

Our Summer is an opportunity for you to experience new and familiar places while earning chances to win awesome prizes. We can’t wait to see what fun you have along the way!

Here’s how it works

  • Readers of all ages are invited to participate. Participants will be grouped by age: ages 0-5, ages 6-12, Teens, and Adults. (You don’t need an EVPL library card to participate!)
  • To register, visit any EVPL location or an outreach event the library attends. All EVPL locations are hosting an annual summer reading celebration kickoff event on Thursday, June 1.
  • Once registered, you’ll receive a registration prize (while supplies last) that includes a coupon for a free book from an upcoming EVPL Foundation Book Sale or the Book Store located in the lobby of EVPL Central.
  • Record books read on the log provided at registration. You can also complete activities listed in your log for additional prize entries! Visit any EVPL location to submit prize entries by Monday, July 31.
    • You can read eBooks, listen to audiobooks, read to someone else – it all counts! Books can come from your own collection, or you can read books your borrow from EVPL.
  • You may also participate digitally, by signing up and tracking books through EVPL’s Beanstack.

This year’s Summer Reading Celebration is supported by these local partners: Azzip Pizza, Lic’s Deli & Ice Cream, Wesselman Woods, Mesker Park Zoo & Botanic Gardens, the Evansville Philharmonic Orchestra, Deep Blue Indoor Play, Walther’s Golf & Fun, and the EVPL Foundation.
