Mural

After an invitation to local artists, a mural was installed at the newly renovated EVPL McCollough.

Evansville native Spence Farmer created the mural, titled Bookshelf. Created in 2024, the mural draws inspiration from the design principles of the Bauhaus. The Bauhaus, a revolutionary school of art, architecture, and design founded in Germany in 1919, emphasized simplicity, functionality, and the unity of art and technology. EVPL is pleased to feature Farmer’s artwork as part of the newly-reimagined EVPL McCollough, celebrating the fusion of modern design and community engagement.

Donated Art

Also featured at EVPL McCollough is a donated piece of art from local artist, Aaron Soulberry.

Artist Bio and Donation Statement

Aaron Soulberry, an artist born and raised in Evansville, specializes in paper collage. He is influenced by his community and the special nuances that makes his hometown such a unique place. He intricately uses colors, patterns, and shapes to depict his visions of the future and core memories–some of which he says were created here at EVPL McCollough. He has chosen to donate this piece, Stuck In A Loop, as a result of the library being such an important institution of Evansville and a cornerstone in his personal life.

Stop by EVPL McCollough to view these works of art and enjoy the renovated space.
