***Update – AARP Tax Aide Appointments & EVPL Closures
For individuals who provided an email when registering for an appointment, a notification will be sent through the library’s events platform – Communico. If an email address was not supplied, notifications regarding the closure of the library will be made available through local media channels, the library’s website, and EVPL social media in addition to the closure being communicated to AARP.
If an appointment is canceled due to a library closure, the individual must contact EVPL to reschedule their appointment for a later date.
If all AARP Tax Aide appointments are filled at EVPL locations, additional appointments may be available at SWIRCA. Tax aide assistance via AARP at SWIRCA will be by appointment only. Appointments can be made by calling 812.612.1083. Leave a message with the individual’s name and phone number. The call will be returned with an appointment date and time.
Tax season is almost upon us. AARP tax professionals will be at five of our EVPL locations between February 15 and April 9 to help you navigate tax season.

Appointments can be made beginning Monday, February 8 at 9:00 am online or by calling 812.428.8218. There will be no walk-in appointments this year.
Here’s what you need to know:
- Please arrive at the time for which you are registered. Failure to be on time may affect the tax preparer’s ability to assist with your taxes.
- If you are filing with a spouse/partner, only one of you needs to register.
- If you are filing taxes for 2019 and 2020, you will need to make two appointments, preferably back-to-back.
- Masks must be worn while inside the building
- Make sure you have all of your tax documents with you. AARP has a list of documents needed for tax aide services.
- You will be asked to leave your papers and documents (original or copies) with the tax preparers and will be given time to return for pick up later on the same day of your appointment.
- If the tax preparers have questions you may receive a call from an unknown or restricted number. Failure to answer may result in the delay of the completion of your return.

UPDATE February 12, 2021
If EVPL is closed due to situations beyond our control (i.e. weather, etc), Tax Aide appointments will be canceled.
If your appointment is canceled, you will receive an email. Unfortunately, AARP cannot provide any additional appointments beyond the ones already scheduled. It will be up to you to reschedule an appointment for a later date, as appointments are available.
