Event Co-Chairs Linda Baker, Manager, EVPL East, and Erika Qualls-Barnett, Programming Manager

All Vanderburgh County residents are invited to create and submit artwork to EVPL’s Black History Month Art Show, to take place at EVPL Central beginning February 5, 2024.

EVPL’s annual reading program theme for 2024 is Read – Discover – Play, and we are asking that entries also relate to one of these three words as individuals express their personal ideas, thoughts and feelings about Black History Month through art.

While this won’t be a juried art show, we will be welcoming votes for the Community Choice Award in each of the three themes, with prizes for all three winners.

Artwork will be displayed in cases placed in EVPL Central’s main lobby, and submissions are due no later than January 31.

Details & Guidelines

  • Art should be two-dimensional, to the degree needed to be able to hang inside a display case, with wire or other hardware attached that would needed for hanging.
  • Submissions should include the following:
    • Artist’s name (anonymous submissions will be accepted, but contact information will still need to be provided)
    • Title of the piece
    • Specific theme (of three above)
    • Chosen medium
  • EVPL staff will have discretion regarding appropriateness of submissions for this exhibit.

Submission forms can be printed by clicking here.

We earnestly hope that Vanderburgh County residents will create expressive, engaging and thought-provoking artwork for this special exhibit.
