As we all do our best to protect ourselves, our families, and friends by staying home, we know many of you are looking at OverDrive for additional reading materials. EVPL just subscribed to a service that might help teachers working online with students, as well as parents trying to teach children who are stuck at home. If you’re finding time on your hands and think now is the time to read that classic you always meant to read, we have a program for you as well.

We just subscribed to the Duke Classics series on OverDrive. There are over 4,000 classic titles now available as ebooks for simultaneous use. That means, if you’re a teacher who wants to pick The Invisible Man by H.G. Wells to read with your whole class, everyone can read the ebook at the same time. With The Call of the Wild and Little Women in theaters recently, maybe you would like to read one of those books with your child. Or, maybe you yourself always wanted to read Don Quixote. Now’s your chance while you’re self-isolating at home. There are so many titles to choose from!

How will you know if the edition you find online is the one with simultaneous use? Look for the version that says “Available” and “Duke Classics” on the cover art.

The staff at EVPL hopes these classics might help you through the weeks ahead.
