On Thursday, June 25, we will be celebrating Eric Carle‘s birthday! He is an artist and author whose career has spanned over 50 years and resulted in some of the most beloved children’s books of all time. EVPL has compiled a variety of activities, book lists, readings, and songs for children and adults to enjoy together.
Read The Very Hungry Caterpillar with Ms. Jennifer:

Sing a song with Ms. Lauren:
Lyrics
Watermelon, watermelon (make large watermelon with arms)
Papaya, papaya (put palms together and point with each syllable)
Baaaaanana (rock your arms like rocking a baby)
Fruit salad! Fruit salad! (move your arms and sway hips)
After reading The Very Hungry Caterpillar and singing about fruit salad, you might be hungry for a snack! Enjoy this recipe from Ms. Caitlyn.
Be sure to talk about what different foods might be good (or not so good!) in a fruit salad!
In our Book Bundles this week, our featured craft is tissue paper stained glass. This is similar to how Eric Carle creates his artwork. He cuts small pieces of tissue paper into different shapes to create the images you see in his books. Be sure to sign up for one of our book bundles and join in the fun!
