Stella and Madelynn W. are avid library users, who visit many EVPL libraries for storytimes, bingo dates, and fun crafts! They never miss a storytime and love fun books about one of their favorite characters, Scooby-Doo!
As Honorary Librarians they wanted to spotlight both the fun they have in the library, and more serious topics like individuality, inclusion, kindness, and making good choices. This set of books is a mix of fun, with lots of heartfelt love for others all around.
Stella and Madelynn love their time at the library. They are able to experience new things, explore new worlds through books, and make new friends. In The Magician’s Hat by former New England Patriots football player Malcom Mitchell, it’s obvious how magical books can be! This magician shows the power of a library.
Stella and Madelynn are learning new things every day. They are starting to realize the cause and effect that happens when making choices. In What if Everybody Did That? by Ellen Javernick, that simple question is asked in different situations to understand what could happen if we don’t act with kindness and thoughtfulness.
Madelynn and Stella are twins, but they are each growing into their own personalities and their own unique likes and dislikes. In There’s an Alien in Your Book by Tom Fletcher, being unique is celebrated and welcomed! When something appears that is different from what is expected, how can we see the beauty within the difference? In Too Loud Lily by Sofie Laguna, a trait that makes the character unique is also the trait that is celebrated. Madelynn and Stella know it’s awesome being YOU!
Madelynn and Stella are full of kindness and are practicing understanding emotions and being a good friend. In The Rabbit Listened by Cori Doerrfeld, we can learn how important it is to listen as a good friend to others, especially when times are tough. In The Best Job Ever! by Sam Garton, Otter searches for the best job for his friend and him. They soon realize they’ve been doing the best job all along!
Stella and Madelynn are also big fans of solving mysteries. We traverse all of the EVPL branches looking for books and comics of their favorite book character, Scooby-Doo! They enjoy seeing the monsters and watching Scooby and the gang solve the mysteries. It sparks their imagination, and before you know it, they are running around the house, pretending to be the monster. Then on to the next book!
Everything about Stella and Madelynn lets us know that they love the library, love to have fun with reading, and want to let books shape and change the way they see the world. They hope you will, too!
