Book spine poetry is a type of “found” poetry, as it uses pre-written words to create a poem. Most don’t rhyme or fit a particular poetic structure. It’s just a stack of books, artfully arranged, where each title is a line in the poem. These poems can be any length or style, or evoke any emotion. The point is to be creative with what you have and enjoy the experience.
In celebration of National Library Week and Poetry Month, here are a few examples from EVPL and other organizations to use as inspiration.
