National Library Week is celebrated April 19 – 25, 2020. Our doors may be temporarily closed, but EVPL is still here for you 24/7. With digital collections, online resources, and virtual programs via Facebook and YouTube, we are striving to provide our community with the best library experience we can. We encourage you to celebrate National Library Week with us by exploring new ways to Connect with EVPL, sharing how you use your library on social media, or even participating in one of our reading challenges below. We may be celebrating National Library Week from afar this year, but we will continue to create engaging experiences and expanding our resources to serve you.
National Library Week Challenge – National Library Week is an annual celebration highlighting the valuable role libraries and library staff play in transforming lives and strengthening our communities. Complete each of the challenges to learn more about EVPL, libraries, and this national celebration.
Stay at Home Reading Challenge – While you are practicing social distancing the next few weeks, participate in a reading challenge on your own or with your family! EVPL locations may be closed, but you can access digital content at evpl.org. Books in any format and from any collection will count. Happy Reading!
Virtual Field Trip Challenge – Many museums, aquariums, parks, and music venues are providing virtual experiences during this time. We challenge you to participate in five virtual tours and read a book related to it. Happy Reading!
1OOO Books Before Kindergarten – Congratulations on taking the first step to kindergarten readiness! Children of any age who have not yet started kindergarten – and their grown-ups – can participate. You can also read the same book multiple times, and the book can be from your own collection or from our collection! The goal is to have read 1000 books before your child starts kindergarten. We know your family can achieve this goal, and we are here to help you along the way!
With 8 locations throughout Vanderburgh County, EVPL is ready to discover, explore, and connect WITH you! We encourage you to uncover new things, revisit old favorites, and to engage with us along the way.
