Once again, as a part of our Hispanic Heritage Month celebration, the Evansville Vanderburgh Public Library and the Centro Latino + Americano have partnered to bring you a Piñata Contest!

Una vez más, como parte de nuestra celebración del Mes de la Herencia Hispana, la biblioteca Evansville Vanderburgh Public Library y el Centro Latino + Americano se han asociado para ofrecerte un Concurso de Piñata.

Contest Guidelines

• Any child or teen ages 0-18 may participate. Each participant may register only one piñata. The piñata must have been made by the child or teen entering the contest. 
• Piñatas that have been purchased, marketed, or used in other competitions will be disqualified. 
• The piñata must have a cardboard base body and be made and lined with traditional materials, such as newspaper or colored papers. It should have a hook for hanging. If decorations are made, they must be executed by hand without computer prints.
• The piñata can be of any size, shape, and theme.

Reglas del Concurso

• Cualquier niño o adolescente de 0-18 años puede participar. Cada participante puede registrar únicamente una piñata. La piñata debe de haber sido hecha por el niño o adolescente que se registró en el concurso.
• Serán descalificadas las piñatas compradas, comercializadas, o que hayan participado en otros concursos.
• La piñata deberá tener como base cartón, estar elaborada y forrada con materiales tradicionales, tales como: periódico, papeles de colores, y tener un gancho para colgarse. En caso de que se realicen decorados, éstos deberán ejecutarse artesanalmente sin impresiones de computadora. 
• La piñata podrá ser de cualquier tamaño, forma y tema.

Due Date for Submission

• September 15, 2024 – October 14, 2024: Piñata Submission 
  • Participants MUST drop off their piñata between the dates of Sept.15 – Oct. 14 at EVPL Central. EVPL Central’s hours are: 
    • Sunday: 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm
    • Monday – Thursday: 9:00 am – 8:00 pm 
    • Friday: 9:00 am – 6:00 pm
    • Saturday: 9:00 am – 5:00 pm
  • The registration form must be completed and attached to the piñata when dropped off.
  • ALL piñatas must be turned in by Monday, October 14 by 8:00 pm to EVPL Central with the registration form. No late entries will be accepted.

Fecha de Entrega

•  Septiembre 15, 2024 – Octubre 14, 2024: Entrega de Piñatas
  • Los participantes deberán entregar su piñata entre el 15 de septiembre al 14 de octubre, en la biblioteca EVPL Central. Horario de apertura de EVPL es:
    • domingo: 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm
    • lunes a jueves 9:00 am – 8:00 pm
    • viernes: 9:00 am – 6:00 pm
    • sábado: 9:00 am – 5:00 pm
• El formulario de inscripción necesitará ser completado y ya sujetado a la piñata al entregarse.
• No se aceptarán piñatas después de las 8:00 pm del 14 de oct. 2024. Todas las piñatas deberán ser acompañadas del formulario de inscripción. 

Contest Voting and Awards

• Piñatas will be placed in three age categories, depending on the age of the participant. 
  • 0-8
  • 9-12
  • 13-18
• Piñatas will be displayed at EVPL Central as they are submitted. 
• October 21, 2024 – October 30, 2024:  Voting 
  • During this time, voting on the piñatas can be done in-person at EVPL Central or online at www.evpl.org. Everyone is welcome to vote. Voting ends on October 30 at 8:00 pm. 
• November 2, 2024: Awards ceremony 
  • There will be a 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winner in each category, based on the total number of votes for each piñata.  All winning piñatas will be displayed at Día de los Muertos on Nov. 2.
  • Winners will be announced at Evansville’s Día de los Muertos on Saturday, Nov. 2, around 2:15 pm. This event takes place at EVPL West (2000 W. Franklin St, Evansville IN). Winners do not need to be present at the ceremony.
• Prizes: Participate for your chance to win a $50 gift card and other awesome prizes for each age group!

Votación y Premios del Concurso

• Las piñatas serán colocadas en tres categorías, dependiendo de la edad del participante:
  • 0-8 años
  • 9-12
  • 13-18 años.

• Las piñatas serán exhibidas en EVPL Central conforme se vayan entregando.

• Octubre 21, 2024 – Octubre 30, 2024: Votación 
  • Durante este tiempo, se podrá votar en persona en EVPL Central o en nuestro sitio Web www.evpl.org. Todos son bienvenidos a votar. La votación terminará el 30 de octubre de 2024 a las 8:00pm.
• Noviembre 2, 2024: Ceremonia de Premiación en el Festival del Día de los Muertos – EVPL Oeste
  •  Habrá un ganador de 1o., 2o. y 3er. lugar en cada categoría por edad, basado en el número total de votos por cada piñata. Todas las piñatas ganadoras serán exhibidas en el Festival del Día de los Muertos en noviembre 2.
  • Alrededor de las 2:15 pm. Este evento se llevará a cabo en la biblioteca EVPL West. Los ganadores no necesitan estar presentes.

• Premios: Participa para poder tener oportunidad de ganar un certificado de regalo de $50.00 dólares y otros grandes premios en cada categoría por edades.

Pick Up

Pick Up: All piñatas must be picked up from EVPL Central between Nov. 4 – Nov. 15, 2024. Any piñatas not picked up by Nov. 15 will be disposed of.

Recoger su Piñata

RECLAMACIÓN: todas las piñatas deben de ser recogidas en la biblioteca EVPL Central del 4 de noviembre – 15 de noviembre, 2024. Las piñatas que no sean reclamadas para el 15 de noviembre a las 6:00 p.m. serán desechadas.

*The piñatas that do not comply with these rules will be automatically disqualified and will be the responsibility of the student to retrieve.
*Participants accept that the registered piñatas will be publicly exhibited at EVPL Central.

*Las piñatas que no sigan las reglas establecidas serán descalificadas automáticamente y será responsabilidad del participante ir a recogerla.
*Los participantes aceptan que las piñatas registradas serán exhibidas al público en la biblioteca EVPL Central.
