EVPL kicks off the summer reading celebration, Our Summer: Reading is Delicious, on Saturday, May 22, 2021. Readers will be able to log their reading in Beanstack or give us a call at 812.428.8200 for a chance to win one of our weekly prizes!
While the Summer Reading Celebration will run for ten weeks, EVPL will offer a combination of virtual and in-person programming for all ages throughout the whole summer and beyond. Due to the unknown timing of the COVID-19 pandemic, some programs will remain in virtual format until the fall. All storytimes – Baby & Me Storytime, Family Storytime, Sensory Storytime, La Hora del Cuento, Chapter Book Storytime, and 2nd Saturday Stories – will continue to be offered via EVPL’s Facebook and YouTube channel. Our DIY and STEAM shows will continue to be aired on social media as well.
We are also excited to offer two new virtual opportunities for families this summer! Starting Monday, June 7, EVPL will offer a performance of Fairy Tales from Around the World from Kentucky Shakespeare! for one week on Facebook and YouTube. A second show, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, will be shared for one week starting Monday, July 12. Families can also enjoy weekly programs from PageTurner Adventures at evpl.org throughout the summer.
In addition to our virtual options, EVPL will be offering in-person programs again this summer! Most of these programs will take place outside at EVPL locations to accommodate audience size and social distancing guidelines. We will have weekly Dance Parties for younger kids and their families, concerts, movie nights for families, teens, and adults, and much more! Bubblefest will return in a modified format for 2021. Kids will be able to pick up a Bubblefest kit on the day of the program to enjoy on the lawn with their grownup. Book discussions will meet at EVPL North Park and EVPL Red Bank as well.
EVPL will also be providing weekly Take and Make craft kits for kids, Simple STEM kits every other week, and a contest for all ages each week! Stay tuned for a summer guide with all of these exciting programs. We can’t wait to see you again at an EVPL program!
