Y’ALL, I AM SUPER 👏 EXCITED👏 ABOUT THIS FREE LEARNING HACK FROM the Institute of Museum and Library Services and EVPL FOR LITTLES!🤩
If you’re anything like me, you know all the things you SHOULD do as a veteran parent. You have read all the books, attended all the virtual webinars, and even gone to in-person pre-COVID conferences to learn how littles learn best. But despite all efforts, your schedule is currently reflective of a three-ring circus, so you’re just fortunate enough if dinner is ready on time. Or maybe you’re new to having littles and don’t have the slightest idea of how they learn best and could use all the help you can get. No worries, friend! BREATHE! We got you!
Your favorite public library is now offering a FREE service for caregivers with texting ability and access called TALK from the Institute of Museum and Library Services. They used a research-based program called Every Child Ready to READ to create this ultra-convenient service to help you prepare your littles (ages 5 and under) for learning success! They send fun, easy, and age-appropriate activities to your phone 8-10 times a month to keep you up on all the best ideas to boost learning at home, anytime!
You can sign up now for this awesome FREE service!
Be sure to contact us with any questions, comments, or concerns so we can serve you best!
Happy Learning!🦉🦉🦉
SING: Empty food containers and wooden spoons can be used as drumsticks to explore rhythms and sounds. Turn on music and drum with the beat.
WRITE: Follow the art leader! Watch your preschooler draw. Draw the same thing. Compare drawings. Notice differences & similarities. Switch roles & repeat.
PLAY: Toddlers love finger puppets. Make some by cutting the tips off the fingers of old gloves. Draw faces with markers, put them on, & act out a story!
READ: Look at family photos with your toddler. Talk about what is happening in each picture, name the family members in them and describe them.
From TALK: Text and Learn for Kindergarten sends fun activities parents can do with their babies and preschoolers to make any time learning time. Developed by librarians and based on the Every Child Ready to Read program that encourages parents to read, write, sing, talk, and play with their little ones everyday, TALK activities are designed to get kids ready for school success. You’ll get updates for local library storytimes and other free, educational children’s events; and you’ll even get a few tips just for you, because when parents are strong and healthy, it’s easier to give your kids what they need to grow.
