In 2012, the Evansville Vanderburgh Public Library partnered with Altrusa International and Evansville Parks & Recreation to create Trail with a Tale: A Storybook Walk.

This storybook walk features stands with digitized picture books, handpicked by EVPL and Altrusa, in a beautiful setting on the grounds of the Evansville State Hospital. Each stand holds a page or two, so families can enjoy the story while walking the path together. Every month, a new book is placed along the storybook walk, keeping things fresh and interesting.

Trail with a Tale is a testament to EVPL and Altrusa’s shared commitment to promoting literacy, fostering community engagement, and encouraging physical activity in the great outdoors.
